Bob beardsworth - Diocesan Youth Service: Like your website Brian. Wish all parishes could get up to date and offer similar provision. Every good wish. I enjoy so much attending Mass at Sacred Heart, listening to the choir (I never could sing) and then enjoying a chat and coffee in the Parish Room.Thank you all for the effort you put into your great Parish. pat browne <pat@patbrowne.co.uk> lower darwen, lancashire england - 2002/02/26 I've just been showing your website to one my colleages here at the Diocesan Pastoral Centre and we just want to say "congratulations" on an excellent site. Marie Lavin <youthservice@hallamdiocese.org.uk> Sheffield, SouthYorkshire - 2002/02/21 i like your web page kmccabe <mmccabe1@shaw.ca> edmonton, alberta canada - 2002/02/15 A very nice website that is well presented and upated regularly. This is a link to our website that I am sure you will enjoy, http://maronitechurch.org.uk Joseph <childofgod@catholic.org> London, United Kingdom - 2002/01/09 Well presented pages - Congratulations to the presenter and best wishes to the parish Lal Lalsing <lalsing20@hotmail.com> Blackburn, Lancashire UK - 2001/12/02 Dear Joe & Brian, Greetings once again from the Little Mouse on the Prairie! Your site continues to improve, particularly in it's contacts at the end. Congratulations on the parish centre: cost 151 thou, paid off 126 thou, left with only 25 thou! Bully for you! My second church here, Our Lady of the Valley cost $500,000 Canadian, or about 1.2 million in U.K. money. When I arrived we owed $250,000: at present our debt is down to $90,000. I was looking at your weekly giving. It seems to amount to about 770 pounds for Offertory & Parish Room, which is about $1,700 in Canadian. Our budget figure for St. James is $5,000 & we usually get around $4,500: for Our Lady's our budget figure is $2,500 & we usually get about $2,400: the Reserve churches are neglibile, but they have no debt. So, our take in figure is around $7,000, or about 3,200 in UK pounds. You need to remind your parishioners that the Mormons give a tenth of their income - that's why they own Safeway and lots of other things that you never knew! We had an ordination here on All Saints: our next and only seminarian is 6 years down the line! And at present we have three parishes without a priest. Hope your Christmas Fair goes with a bang - probably the wrong thing to say with the IRA still alive and kicking! At least Dorothy has been selling Christmas Cards at the back of the church like hot cakes! Hope your weather includes lots of snow for the Christmas season. According to our Farmer's Almanac here we are going to have a very heavy snow fall in December and January! Thank God! It's about time. Anyway, bed time for me, so, love and best wishes from That Little Mouse on the Prairie! That Little Mouse on the Prairie <stjameschurch1@shaw.ca> Vernon, British Columbia Canada - 2001/11/08 Great to see the picture of the Pierrots again. We all had a great time at the Youth Club even though we were in the middle of a war! We all learned to dance -thanks to the girls. Six of us Youth Hostelled through Wales in 1945. What a way to celebrate the end of the war! We should always be grateful to the older parishioners who gave up their time for the Club and for the use of the 'Hall' which we,of course, remembered as the Church. Happy Days. Bob Marr <bob@marr73.freeserve.co.uk> Garstang, Lancs - 2001/10/14 Your website is excellent and your parish newsletters have 'come a long way' since you were at St James' - when the two Ms typed them for you. Kevin said that he misses seeing you with Jake in the park. We all still miss you at St James' - God Bless Mary, Kevin and family Mary and Kevin Curliss <mary@curliss.co.uk> Salford, Lancs England - 2001/10/12 Fr Lavin, I have to congratulate you and your parish on a wonderfully presented web-site. A joy to visit. From an 'old' parishoner -(St.James RC, Salford/YCW Group). Jeanette Varnam (nee Curliss) <jeanette.varnam@varpek.co.uk> Bolton, England UK - 2001/10/11 Greetings from Down Under! (My parents came here from Liverpool, by the way). As a Catholic it is good for me to see how the Church has been moving onto the Web, and trying to reclaim some of this secular world! A very good site, well done. Keep up the excellent work!!! martin murphy <martymaddy_murphy@bigpond.com.au> melbourne, victoria australia - 2001/10/07 A really well constructed site with a good selection of items to inform and interest. Thank you. I shall be logging on more regularly in future. Paul Heaton <p.heaton@blackburn.gov.uk> BLACKBURN, - 2001/10/03 Top Site Leah Barton-Bates - 2001/09/27 Very well presented website. A lot of hard work has paid off Kind Regards, Fred Fred Jones <fred@fredjones.f9.co.uk> Blackburn, Lancs - 2001/08/20 Great Site Joe Jones - 2001/08/16 Hello, picked up your website from the Salford Diocese list - well done. I am the area secretary for the National Network of Pastoral Musicians so shall be contacting you soon with details of workshops/days in the area. Regards Margaret Margaret Blaney <Margblaney@yahoo.com> Manchester, - 2001/05/17 nice site trying to contact anyone over 50 from Intack school, shadsworth,st peters c of e people from whitbirk area stewart walmsley <englishman1@home.com> bondurant, iowa usa - 2001/04/25 It's 4.30 pm here on Tuesday, March 27th and outside it is snowing heavily. I drove back this afternoon from our Diocesan Centre at Cache Creek (125 miles each way!) from a joint Retreat with Lutheran & Anglican clergy. I'm glad to see that the old place is still standing, despite the earlier efforts of Joe & myself. Nice green wall at the back - must be Fr. Michael's touch! And the parish room open a year already! My, how time flies! But, where would they all be without your expertise, Brian! I hope you are still cooking the books for them too! Those conifers on the church photo look like they need a bit of attention at the top, Joe! When you are filling your 'Faith in the Future' forms in, just thank God you are not in our situation. I have 6 Masses on a Sunday, in three different churches: at present I am being helped out by the retired Bishop of Nelson (not that one near Colne!) who is only 88 years old. He drives down here each weekend from Kamloops - about 70 miles each way - but how long that will last is anyone's guess. We have no other priests available, so we are already looking at Sunday celebrations in the absence of a priest. My skiing abilities have improved, and with this snow I might even get up to our local resort in the near future. Keep up the good work, and pat yourselves on the back for a great parish site! Best wishes, The Little Mouse on the Prairie! The Little Mouse on the Prairie <stjameschurch1@home.net> Vernon, B.C.
